Past Scholarship Winner: Ana Escudeiro
Ana received one of the inaugural SVC Foundation Travel Sponsorships to travel to the SVC TechCon in 2012. At the time, she was working toward her PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Coimbra in Portugal. Her research was titled the “Development and Mechanical/Tribological Characterization of DLC based coatings obtained by PVD process for biomedical applications”.
The Techcon was in Santa Clara, California that year and Ana remembers “it was one of my first talks I ever made. I loved the round tables with experts. The SVC Foundation Scholarship helped me with all travel and accommodation costs as well as with the organization of the trip. It was very beneficial to me otherwise I would not have had the opportunity to go to such a renowned conference.”
Ana is now a technical business developer at Oerlikon Balzers and is responsible to identify and develop new business in the field of PVD coatings for the Automotive Industry. We wish here the very best!
