Veronika writes, “As a PhD student enrolled in the co-supervision program between Charles University and Polytechnique Montréal, I am pursuing my studies in the field of vacuum technology, under the supervision of Professors Ludvik Martinu, Jolanta Klemberg-Sapieha, and Andrey Shukurov. My doctoral research explores transition metal nitride nanomaterials for catalysis and gas sensing applications. Physical vapor deposition techniques, particularly magnetron sputtering, are central to this work. I am synthesizing various nanostructures (e.g., thin films, nanoparticles, composites, and nanocolumns) and manipulating their stoichiometry to achieve superior functionality through a relatively simple reactive sputtering process using copper. I am deeply grateful for your support. Receiving this award so early in my career is incredibly exciting, and I am eager to continue my research in nanomaterials.”
