2024 SVC Foundation Travel Sponsorship Award: Belgacem Tiss
Since 2013, the SVC Foundation has joined the SVC to help support students that are traveling to the TechCon to present their research. If you include this year’s students, the SVC Foundation has supported 60 students from over a dozen countries. We are proud to introduce the 2024 recipients of the SVC Foundation Travel Sponsorship and hope you will attend their presentations in Chicago.
Belgacem is a Ph.D. student at the University of Minho, Portugal, where his research focusing on the prevention of UV-aging and mechanical wear protection of cork and rubber. Portugal is the world’s leading producer and exporter of cork! Thus, his research is of vital importance at his University. He will present a talk titled “Protecting Cork and Rubber from Mechanical Wear and UV Radiation through Coatings Produced by Vacuum Techniques” during the Large Area Coatings session.
