After getting a B.S. at Jilin University and an M.S. at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Jiangnan is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the epitaxial growth and device applications of ferroelectric ScAlN, which has shown extraordinary properties for next-generation electronic and quantum photonic applications. Jiangnan has thoroughly investigated the molecular beam epitaxial growth of new materials and characterized their structural, electronic, ferroelectric, optical, and quantum properties. Related works have led to applications in high-performance electronics and integrated photonics that can be operated in a wide wavelength range from UV to the infrared spectrum.
